Since we moved from a two bedroom town home to a 4 bedroom house, with a finished basement, we're missing a lot of things... or just lacking in a lot of things. Luckily, CSN Stores has offered me a $35 gift certificate for a review item! I'm trying to decide what I'd like & I'm looking at things like Corelle (since I'm missing some of mine that we got for our wedding!), some baby products (of course), something to hold all of my jewelry (cause I have a ton of Cookie Lee bling for my own collection!), or furniture.
Of course, shopping with CSN Stores is super easy, because they have over 200 online stores with anything you could ever want or need! I can't wait to share with you what I get & how it complements our new house :)
Thanks CSN Stores!

Abby Evans Photography Session - discount available!
"I love to watch people interact and I love to capture relationships with photography."
---abby evans
Perhaps you remember when I introduced my dear friend, Abby, who is starting a photography business? Well, she recently relocated from Phoenix, where she started her business & she now lives in Chicago! Yay for us, right? So we ventured out a couple weeks ago & she got to work. B was comfortable with her, of course, but even if he hadn't known her, I know it would've gone just as well.

These pictures definitely capture the little boy that is my B.
Take a minute & check out Abby's website & her blog, where she writes about everything from photography to wine to family. Are you in the Chicago area & you want to book her for your next photo shoot? Mention you read about her on Big City! Baby & she'll give you a discounted rate of $50.00 a session. This includes 5 fully retouched photos AND full rights to print them or use them however they want (this is super important to me!). Not in Chicago, but still pretty local (Illinois, Iowa, Omaha area)? Shoot her an email & chat with her about traveling - abby@abbyevansphotography.com
I can't wait to have these photos hanging in my house!
Aren't they fantastic?

mother-ease review & GIVEAWAY!
Picture of B will be added soon... he's napping & I left the camera in his room :(
I received a Sandy's fitted diaper from Canadian company, Mother-ease Cloth Diapers, in gorgeous, gorgeous green - I was so excited for it, since we're pretty much out of green diapers these days. I was also given a Sandy's Cloth Diaper Liner & an Air Flow cover (in Oceans), so I could try it on B for overnight.
First - a little background:
Mother-Ease uses 4 different fabrics for their diapers. You can choose from Cotton Terry, Organic Cotton Terry, Bamboo Terry, & Stay-dry. I choose the cotton terry, because I wanted the color!
Here's what Mother-ease has to say about their Sandy's fitteds:
These cloth diapers are made from our same soft stretchy terry cloth using the same quality of workmanship, but they have an extra layer of absorbent terry sewn to the inside of the diaper. The fit of the cloth diaper is slightly roomier. Elastic at the waist front and back as well as the leg openings, together with the snap closures at the sides create a clean pant-like look. A serged edge finishes the diaper. Our large Sandy’s™ cloth diaper is one of the most absorbent cloth diapers ever, and holds 15 oz. When used together with our Sandy’s™ Cloth Diaper Liners it makes an extravagant nighttime cloth diaper.
I'd definitely agree that these are incredibly absorbent diapers. I go back & forth in my personal opinions about fitteds & one issue I always have is when a fitted is soaked completely through after an overnight. I can't stand thinking of how B's booty must feel, sitting in this soaking wet diaper all night long ... this was definitely not an issue with the Sandy's Fitted & that makes this mama a happy mama!
I was a little concerned as to the fit of the diaper & cover, because B is just hovering around 21 pounds. Sandy's are available in two sizes - Small is 8-20 pounds while Large is 20- 35 pounds. I ordered a large & was worried it'd fall off of him. This was not the case. It is a bit larger than most of his diapers, but it's not so large that it's an issue, especially at night. We haven't had a single leak, both without the extra Cloth Diaper Liner during the day, & with it overnight. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
The Air Flow Cover comes in a variety of colors & prints - all listed as Eco-Themed (& we all know how much I love Eco- anything!). Mother-ease Cloth Diapers stands by the breathability in their covers, which is a great concept. Of course, all cloth diaper products should breathe more efficiently than it's disposable counterpart, but some breathe better than others. Bottom line: Great diaper combo & I'll be thrilled to continue using it as B gets bigger, & future kiddos after him! My only 'complaint' is that personally, I'd rather they offer a third, in between, size for my munchkin of a kid. All in all, certainly a diaper I will use & certainly a diaper I would love to purchase!
Speaking of purchase... Want your own Mother-ease Cloth Diaper? You can purchase them at the Mother-ease Cloth Diaper website (it has a handy shopping cart for the US or for Canadians) or you can win one right here! CSN Stores Review
Disclaimer: I must apologize to CSN stores, as I had this post written & saved & didn't realize it wasn't posted. I apologize for my slowness in getting it out here!
Recently I spoke with CSN Stores & we set up a review for my blog. I was able to pick out a product from any of their over 200 stores to receive, which was awesome! I've been lusting over a wagon for B, so I got right to work, going through all the choices CSN has to offer. I finally narrowed it down to two different options & because one was out of stock, I ordered the other - the Little Tikes Cozy Cruisin' Wagon.
I was so happy when it arrived just a few days later. Super fast shipping is always awesome, in my opinion. Mike & I set to work, putting it together that night & took B out for a spin in the dark - way past his bedtime. He seemed so thrilled!
We regularly use the wagon on walks & trips to the park. B seems to enjoy the freedom of not being buckled in & I like the ease of pulling him with one hand & holding on to Tucker's leash with the other. It has a fabulous hidden wet/dry storage area (complete with drain plug) under one seat & two cup holders in the side.
CSN stores was incredibly easy to work with & Eileen, my contact, was very friendly & efficient. With all that CSN stores has to offer, I know I will be back!
Thanks to CSN stores for sponsoring this review. I appreciate all opportunities to work with them.

Bummas Wipes Review & Giveaway
I recently began using cloth wipes. I know, right? Where have I been all this time? Cloth diapering, but using disposable wipes? Crazy! But, honestly, I just thought it seemed like a lot of work ... what a terrible excuse!
My switch began when I won a couple wipes off of twitter, but I still wasn't sure what I should be looking for in a wipe- size or fabric. When Bummas agreed to sponsor a review though, I was very excited! I'd heard some great things about their wipes & I couldn't wait to try them for myself.
I received the Wild Ones set. This particular set is one of each color, which is cool, cause they're very bright & cheery! I try to mix up B's stuff a lot by including greens, yellows & oranges, & these wipes mix those in perfectly! Plus, if we have a girl someday, I'll already have a couple pink wipes ... & at this point, with B, who cares if I use pink wipes!
So, here's what Bummas says about their wipes:
The creation of Bummas came about when we had our first baby boy. When your first arrives, you are given all kinds of advice:
"Use the wet commercial wipes, don’t use the wet commercial wipes, use gauze; use whatever is handy to block the pee; use another diaper to block the pee; don’t use that, use this; use powder to dry them off, don’t use powder-it contains talc and studies have linked talc to cancer.”
The one thing that was never mentioned was how to dry our little guy’s “stuff” off after the clean up. Our baby’s bum was just way too wet to put a diaper back on--and blowing down there until you’re blue in the face just wasn’t working. Thus Bummas were born. A soft absorbent, luxurious baby cloth to soak up all the wetness.

Eliminates the use of talcum powder. 100% Cotton - Woven Velour Terry Cloth milled in the USA. Variety of color combinations for nursery themes. Handy 5” x 7” size. Won’t pill, shrink, or fade. Durable. Just throw them in the wash and use again. They will last until your little one is out of diapers and beyond! Made in the USA
I love, love, love that these are made in the USA. I think they're a great size- not too big, but big enough that I rarely use more than one per diaper change. One side is very soft & the other is a bit 'rougher' ... (well, not actually rough, but just enough to get everything cleaned up nicely). I totally agree that these can be used even after diapering - as face cloths, or even, once your kiddos are grown up- repurposed for cleaning!
I toss mine in the diaper pail along with diapers & wash them together ... easy peasy! As far as cloth wiping being harder, I was crazy! I repurposed my Peri bottle from the hospital, filled it with water & sometimes, a little soap bit, & just squirt some out on to the Bummas to clean B off. So Easy! Here's a picture for how I store them ... don't you just love how bright they are?!

EcoMom Sampler Review/Giveaway & Discount Code!
This giveaway is now closed. The discount remains until June 30th. Thanks for participating!
I received a sampler that included 3 types of Revolution Foods Squeezable Fruit- Berry, Tropical, & Strawberry Banana' Peach & Strawberry Banana Mish Mash by Plum Organics, Apple Carrot Fiddlesticks by Plum, a Honey Graham & Strawberry Yogurt Grammy Sammy, & two Jammy Sammys- Strawberry Jam & Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly & Peanut Butter. I was so excited for B to try all these foods & I can honestly say, it's been less than one week since we received them & they're almost all gone.
I first threw a couple snacks in my bag while Mike & I went to an eye doctor appointment. In between exams, we broke out some snacks for B. I was a little skeptical of how the squeezables would work (both brands are very similar products), but Mike just started squeezing it into B's mouth. Instant success! He loved it! So I swiped it & tried a little... it was pretty tasty! Later, B tried a Grammy Sammy & he loved it as well. I, of course, stole a bite & thought that it was delicious!
I especially love how well the squeeze fruits travel. We're bike riders & they are great to throw in the chariot, along with our snacks. We took them along with us on all our bike rides last week & I am planning to order more today!

Tasty (brand) Organic Fruit Snacks
I love fruit snacks. I always have.... like those really cheap ones at Target that are so delicious & of course, so cheap! But... those cheap, delicious fruit snacks from the grocery store jam-packed with a whole lotta yucky additives & other crap. So, I've been on the search for some equally yummy fruit snacks that I can throw in my bag & not feel guilty about giving to B (the only guilt I need is from eating too many myself & then not having enough for him...whoops!)
I was able to receive a sample of Tasty Brand Organic Fruit Snacks & was so excited to get them. I opened them & gave one to B. He immediately reached for more & started shoveling them in his mouth as fast as his little hands would let him! I managed to swipe a couple to try myself & knew right away why he was loving them. They were soft & chewy- not slimy or too gummy. I could taste the actual fruit, rather than high fructose corn syrup (YUCK.) I even got my husband to try a few & he said they were great too. I'm so happy to have another yummy snack that I don't have to worry about giving B!
Wanna know what's in them? Check out the ingredients below (ingredient list copied directly from TastyBaby's website).
Wanna get some for yourself? Check the site for stores near you or go to Amazon, where you may even get free shipping!

Melvin the Magnificent Molar
I was lucky enough to receive this adorable new book, Melvin the Magnificent Molar, written by Julia Cook & Laura Jana, MD. I immediately opened it & showed it to B, who grabbed it & 'demanded' that I read it. (By demand, I mean, he crawled into my lap & handed it back to me ... this is demand in toddler language.)
I like everything about this book. It's a cute story & it's full of great illustrations. While B may only have 4 teeth, he knows what a tooth is & he kept pointing at his own while I was reading. Each page is full of color, full of colorful font & it's also informative. It gives an honest, but cute interpretation of the 'life' of a tooth.
I think this is a great book to help teach kids the importance of brushing & keeping their teeth clean. This would also make a fabulous addition to any dentist's office! Pick up your own copy here: Melvin the Magnificent Molar

Yoreganics Review & Giveaway
let's revisit simple. --mother nature
(via the Yoreganics website)
Recently, I was lucky enough to receive some trial products from Yoreganics, a super cool, local company who makes laundry and skin products. I was really excited because, not only are they organic, they are local! LOVE that! I was able to try out the Soap Nuts, the Stain Remover, the Brightens & Whitens, and the lip balm.
It's no secret that I'm in a constant struggle with my cloth diapers and their stinky ammonia smell and buildup issues. I've tried numerous detergents, including the one that everyone raves about. None of them have really worked for me in the long-term. Until now. Thus far, since using Yoreganics Soap Nuts, I'm stink free! Yay! Here's what the Yoreganics site says about Soap Nuts:
SOAP NUTS fall from the Soapberry tree (Sapindus mukorossi) found in Northern India and Nepal. The outer shells of these dried fruit berries contain saponin, which creates soap when agitated in water. They effectively clean, soften and remove odors from your laundry!
Both the Stain Remover & the Brightens & Whitens were fabulous as well. The stain remover removed set in oranges on a brand new bright white t-shirt of B's and the Brightens & Whitens really did brighten and whiten my whites! I now carry the Stain Remover (travel size) around in my bag and whip it out as soon as there's a spill.
Now, onto my very favorite product that's not even diaper related! I love, love, love the Yoreganics lip balm. I'll be honest, I'm a bit of a lip balm whore... but I prefer to stay within the same brand while I'm whoring it out ...(?)... I have tubes of lip balm everywhere- multiples in every bag I carry, my car, my husband's car, every room of the house, every coat pocket... I mean, everywhere! But I recently found out that my current preferred brand is not so good for me, so I was very excited to try Yoreganics. Well, I am sold. Not only am I obsessed with my tube that Kim sent me, I've already gone to my local cloth diaper store asking for it (so, Kim, if you're reading this... please send some to Comfy Bummy! Apparently I just missed you the other day when I went searching for it!). The lip balm is called Simplemint & it's awesome. It makes my lips tingly and soft.
The very best part of all of the Yoreganics line, for me, is that it's organic and safe. Safety is so important to me, with such a curious toddler who is constantly digging through everything. In fact, when I opened the package from Yoreganics, he grabbed the Stain Remover bottle and ran off with it. By the time I got to him, he was spitting it out ... in other words, he actually had some of it in his mouth. Ever try 'flushing' a toddler's mouth? Yeah, right. I got him to drink some water and, honestly, I wasn't too worried. He hadn't really swallowed any; he just got a bit of the taste in his mouth. It says right on the bottle In case of accidental ingestion, drink milk or water, so that's what we did.
Want even more info? Here's some Yoreganics FAQs that I found extremely helpful.
Not only does using Yoreganics help you to 'revisit simple', it also gives me peace of mind.
Want to try Yoreganics out? Check out the shop, right here: Yoreganics. If you're in the Naperville area, check out Comfy Bummy, where some of the Yoreganics products are sold.

CooshytOOsh Potty Pads
I'll admit, when I had first thought about trying out Potty Pads, or family cloth as they're more commonly known, I was not overly excited. While I may be green about quite a few things & I don't mind cloth diaper cleanup, I was still a little leery of using cloth for myself. I was quite certain that my husband wouldn't want to use them, nor do I want to wash them after he does, so I actually never asked him his thoughts. Instead, I put them in a drawer in our bathroom & hoped I'd get around to trying them out.
I received mine from CooshytOOsh, an Etsy shop (as a side note, Susie, the owner, grew up about 15 minutes from where I live & she is currently in Washington State, where I used to live! ). Susie has been incredibly sweet & great to work with. Here's what she says about the Potty Pads:
Description
BUY NOW AND RECEIVE A FREE LAUNDRY BAG FOR SUPER EASY LAUNDRYING!!
3" X 5" WIPERS 40 of super SOFT COTTON
MADE OF SUPERBLY RICH LUXURIOUSLY SOFT COTTON
7" x 8" laundry mesh bag with drawstring. Just pull shut and throw in the laundry!!
SAVE OVER $500 to $875 a year!!
PROMISE ONCE YOU USE THESE SPA ESSENTIALS YOU'LL NEVER WALK DOWN THAT TOILET PAPER ISLE AGAIN!!
So, back to me. I've ended up using the Potty Pads & I must say, I didn't mind them one bit! Now, I haven't used them for um... let's just say... everything ...yet, but I like them! I still need to work out my system for storage of the clean & the used wipes, but I think once I get it down, it'll be no big deal! And, even if I only use them for urine, they'll save me tremendously (because tp is one thing I don't buy cheap- on sale yes, but not cheap). These are uber-soft & fluffy, even after washing. In fact, I even tried them out on B, now that I've decided to make the switch to cloth wipes for him. They worked wonderfully- they're just a bit smaller than my other wipes.
Moral of the story- don't be scared of trying new things! Especially if you cloth diaper- what's the big deal?! And these are so soft, you may never want to go back!
Check out CooshytOOSh for more unpaper products, as well as cloth diapers & accessories. I hope to try out her Eco Baby Wipes next!
Want to try your own Potty Pads? Susie has generously offered up a set, complete with laundry bag!
