Yoreganics Review & Giveaway

Recently, I was lucky enough to receive some trial products from Yoreganics, a super cool, local company who makes laundry and skin products.  I was really excited because, not only are they organic, they are local! LOVE that! I was able to try out the Soap Nuts, the Stain Remover, the Brightens & Whitens, and the lip balm.

It's no secret that I'm in a constant struggle with my cloth diapers and their stinky ammonia smell and buildup issues.  I've tried numerous detergents, including the one that everyone raves about.  None of them have really worked for me in the long-term.  Until now. Thus far, since using Yoreganics Soap Nuts, I'm stink free! Yay! Here's what the Yoreganics site says about Soap Nuts:

SOAP NUTS fall from the Soapberry tree (Sapindus mukorossi) found in Northern India and Nepal. The outer shells of these dried fruit berries contain saponin, which creates soap when agitated in water. They effectively clean, soften and remove odors from your laundry!

Both the Stain Remover & the Brightens & Whitens were fabulous as well.  The stain remover removed set in oranges on a brand new bright white t-shirt of B's and the Brightens & Whitens really did brighten and whiten my whites! I now carry the Stain Remover (travel size) around in my bag and whip it out as soon as there's a spill. 

Now, onto my very favorite product that's not even diaper related! I love, love, love the Yoreganics lip balm.  I'll be honest, I'm a bit of a lip balm whore... but I prefer to stay within the same brand while I'm whoring it out ...(?)... I have tubes of lip balm everywhere- multiples in every bag I carry, my car, my husband's car, every room of the house, every coat pocket... I mean, everywhere! But I recently found out that my current preferred brand is not so good for me, so I was very excited to try Yoreganics.  Well, I am sold. Not only am I obsessed with my tube that Kim sent me, I've already gone to my local cloth diaper store asking for it (so, Kim, if you're reading this... please send some to Comfy Bummy! Apparently I just missed you the other day when I went searching for it!).  The lip balm is called Simplemint & it's awesome.  It makes my lips tingly and soft. 

The very best part of all of the Yoreganics line, for me, is that it's organic and safe.  Safety is so important to me, with such a curious toddler who is constantly digging through everything.  In fact, when I opened the package from Yoreganics, he grabbed the Stain Remover bottle and ran off with it.  By the time I got to him, he was spitting it out ... in other words, he actually had some of it in his mouth. Ever try 'flushing' a toddler's mouth? Yeah, right.  I got him to drink some water and, honestly, I wasn't too worried.  He hadn't really swallowed any; he just got a bit of the taste in his mouth.  It says right on the bottle In case of accidental ingestion, drink milk or water, so that's what we did.

What I should be doing...

blogging one of three reviews i need to post.


putting in a Cookie Lee order from last week that i still haven't done. (in my defense, i'm waiting on 2 extra checks in the mail that will make me feel as though i have a million bucks to spend... rather than spending money in my bank account that is not full of a million bucks. smart, right?) i must do it by tonight. absolutely. no buts about it. 


i should definitely be at my bible study that started 40 minutes ago. but B gets SO upset when I leave him with the lovely church ladies. and then i always end up bringing him downstairs with me, where he runs around freely... but i feel bad ... like we're distracting everyone. and he just gets SO upset. really, you should see him. red face, tears streaming, sweaty baby... it's awful for everyone involved, really.


folding laundry. but that's a daily thing that i should do & often don't. 


taking a shower. maybe, maybe not.  i mean, my hair doesn't look greasy (for once) & i don't smell... so what's another few hours. oh & no, i still haven't solved the shampoo issue. for now, i'm rebelling against my own 'green' ways & i went back to the suave green apple shampoo & conditioner that was in B's guest bath. at least it's green colored... & i won't buy it again! it does smell delicious though. in-hale...

instead.

i'm going to go see what Oprah was about this morning & drink some coffee. shh. don't tell the Huz. (it's not like he reads this anyway, right tweeps?!)

A Rough Start

To the week...

I've made a promise to my dear husband that I will get up with him during the week before he leaves for work.  This is the one thing he's been asking me to do for awhile now, but I keep resisting.  Why?  Well for one, because I like sleep. A lot.  And sometimes, B still wakes up in the middle of the night & when that happens, it makes me like my sleep more.  And probably the reason others would resist is because he leaves for work around 6:30am.  This implies waking around 5:30. Ugh. Double Ugh.

So this morning we both crawled out of bed at 6:11- this is late by regular standards.  Oh well. It's Monday.

Soon after B woke up & Hubs left, I started some laundry.  Diapers had been soaking, so I finished out their cycle.  Moving on... I threw a load of clothes in.  Put them in the dryer.  No big deal.

Tried to get B to take a nap.  Left him in his crib with his seahorse singing & the room darkened.  This usually works- sometimes he fusses for about 10 minutes, but then he's usually out.  I went back downstairs, got myself a fresh cup of coffee & grabbed one of my many books that I'm obsessing over with our current diet change.  I set everything on the end table & went to clean up a bit in the kitchen.  Realized B wasn't napping, went up to get him.

Shortly after this, I brought B downstairs & he began playing with his toys in the living room.

I'm thinking you can guess what happened.

Just as I remembered the full cup of coffee & went racing into the living room, I saw him throwing the coffee mug.  Covered in coffee (luckily cold at this point), he just laughs.  And Tucker tries to lick it up.

More laundry, as he's wearing a brand new off white tshirt.  I throw some carpet stain stuff down, haul B up the stairs & strip him down.  Spray the shirt with OxyClean & let it soak.  It's not until I load the washer with the white clothes & put the detergent in that I realize that I never put detergent in the previously washed, now completely dried load of laundry from earlier.  Super.

These are the things that occur when I'm up before 7am.

How many more days til Friday again?
