A Mish Mosh of thoughts

It's a quiet day here... Resulting in a post full of random thoughts...

Winter is still in force, kicking our butts and freezing us out. B's response was "stay home" when I asked him what he wanted to do this morning. When checking my phone (which may or may not be correct) I shivered as I read- 3 degrees f. Brrr...

I'm taking down the rest of the Christmas/ Winter decorations... You know Valentine's Day is one month from tomorrow? What other excuse do I have to use pink around the house? This will result in a post-nap trip to Michaels to see what I can find.

Tomorrow night we have a birthday outing ... A friend who is turning 26 and said "that's like 30!" ... Well, thanks for aging me, dear friend! Regardless, I'm excited for an excuse to dress up and go out with my wonderful husband.

After reading the current post at one of my favorite blogs (www.kellehampton.com), I went ahead and snagged the second version of Sweet Nella Charm Bangle. 50% of proceeds go to Nella's ONEder Fund. I was already wanting to donate something and I love any excuse to support small business. Check it out and score a cute bracelet while supporting a fantastic cause.

I'm actually blogging on our iPad so I'm interested to see how this turns out. The hubs takes my MacBook to the office everyday so my computer time is severely limited, hence the lack of regular posts. And pictures.

I started watching 'The Good Wife'. What a phenomenal show. I can't believe I waited this long! And everyone is on it! I'm so addicted, I've watched 8 episodes in two days... That's a lot considering I don't watch when B is awake.

untitled.

sometimes i wonder what this blog is all about. who is it for? why do i blog? i started blogging just to talk, i guess. i like to talk about my family ... and how we spend our days.  occasionally i do a review and sometimes a giveaway, but that's really not the purpose of my blog. i think, sometimes, bloggers can get distracted by giveaways.  i know i can.  i can get caught up with the potential of the free things and the prospect of followers, however, when i take a step back, i realize i want real readers.  i spend nap time at least every other day catching up on the blogs that i read regularly.  i don't always comment, but i'm trying to get better about commenting.  i love reading other parent's blogs.  i love learning about their parenting styles and their kids.  i truly, truly love it.

i guess my point in all of this is that, while i'll continue to have giveaways here and there (and i do have a few currently lined up, so don't worry!) , the reason for my blog may seem to shift.  i think that's okay. each day i learn a little bit more about being a mama, being a wife, being a friend, and being myself.  and that's what's most important.  being myself.

so if you're still interested in reading along, i'd love to hear from you ... i'd love to know why you read the blogs you read and how they keep you interested.  in the meantime, if you're looking for more to read, check out my favorites in the sidebar.

100 Followers = Shameless Plugs

I have 100 followers! Yay! And to celebrate, I'd like to share a few of my new favorite blogs with you.  Some of them are new to the blogging world, so I'm sure they'd love the readers & the feedback that we all love!

One of my very best friends in the whole world is starting her own photography business, from the ground up (lens up, perhaps?).  She currently lives in Arizona, but if Mike & I have our way, she & her wonderful husband will be joining us in the Chicago area soon! Check her out at: Abby Evans Photography

KC is a lovely lady who used to live the Manhattan high life & is now 'settled down', owning a horse farm in Wingdale, New York (about a minute over the Connecticut border). Read all about her adventures with 1000 pound babies & a new farm life (oh! and she's a fellow Cookie Lee'er - in fact, she's one of the two lovelies who got me started).  Visit ThunderMoon Farm today! You'll definitely get a laugh when you see the picture of Richard Simmons on her recent post. Also check out ThunderMoonFarm on Twitter

My other Cookie Lee Lovely is Alisha.  She's a fantastic blogger & has been blogging for a year plus! She's a sweetheart & a die hard knitter. Keep track of her projects & other tidbits of her life (check out her amazing basement remodel- I want to go to there!) over here: 2 Buckeyes in Cinci. Here she is on Twitter!

Kaylyn, over at Mommy Mischief, already has some reviews & giveaways up & she's full of great stories about her beautiful daughter.  Check out her yummy recipes too, posted on Tuesdays! Kaylyn's on Twitter here!

Katie writes about 4 month Austin, who is SO adorable & she even has a VLOG up! Baby Bumble B is such a cute blog, you must check it out! Twitter page: @graciekate

Becca, at Mama B, has a couple awesome giveaways up right now! She blogs about being a stay at home mom & tweets too! She has two little boys & has just recently begun her cloth diapering adventure.

Read as Amy captures life with her little girl & the new little lady in their life, set to make her appearance in August.  Motherhood and Miscellany & Mom4Miss on twitter.

So, in your spare time, check these lovelies out! You won't be sorry!!!
