Reading Rainbow
In the past couple of years, I've made a goal for reading throughout the year. Honestly, I love to read, but with a little around, sometimes it's hard to do. In 2008 & 2009, my goal was 50 books in a year. I didn't succeed in 2009, so for 2010, I dropped it down to 25. Unfortunately, I didn't do a proper job of keeping track, so I'm not sure if I succeeded.
This year, I'm keeping the goal at 25 & I'm going to keep track on here, so hopefully I'll stick with it. I finished my first book today & so begins the list.
I've also found that having a Nook has successfully upped my ability to read with B around. Because I can hold it one handed & turn the page with the click of a button, rather than stumbly one handed fingers turning while holding... trying not to drop it on his head while we're snuggling.
I'm excited for the next 24 books & would love to hear any recommendations!

Melvin the Magnificent Molar
I was lucky enough to receive this adorable new book, Melvin the Magnificent Molar, written by Julia Cook & Laura Jana, MD. I immediately opened it & showed it to B, who grabbed it & 'demanded' that I read it. (By demand, I mean, he crawled into my lap & handed it back to me ... this is demand in toddler language.)
I like everything about this book. It's a cute story & it's full of great illustrations. While B may only have 4 teeth, he knows what a tooth is & he kept pointing at his own while I was reading. Each page is full of color, full of colorful font & it's also informative. It gives an honest, but cute interpretation of the 'life' of a tooth.
I think this is a great book to help teach kids the importance of brushing & keeping their teeth clean. This would also make a fabulous addition to any dentist's office! Pick up your own copy here: Melvin the Magnificent Molar

Thanks to the authors for the opportunity to receive & review this book. I appreciate all opportunities given to me & my family.

Books, Books, Books
I like books. I like them a lot. Hardcover, paperback... doesn't matter. I read books constantly. If I go away for the weekend, I bring, like 4-5 books with me- just in case. I always have one in my bag, my car... wherever I am.
Sometimes I don't even read them. I just like to surround myself with them. Stacks of books everywhere.
Someday I hope to have my own 'girl room', especially because I'm sure I'm going to be surrounded by boys. Anyway, back to the girl room. I will decorate it with stacks of books- no joke.
Hubs & I have discussed whether there's a Kindle in my future, because I love to read... & I think maybe, someday. But I will still buy books. So no Kindle in my near future.
(of course, if Amazon reads this & decides they'd like me to review a Kindle... I'd be down for that in a second!)
